Fibromyalgia – What a Pain!!!

Today I am taking the time to write about something that has made me angry for years.

I have been living with fibromyalgia since 1998 and probably 20 years prior to that, but they didn’t know what it was then. I will refer to it as “fibro” for ease of writing and talking as well. The saying “Every fiber of my being” must have been referring to this, because every fiber does hurt some days!

Pain is something that I deal with every day and I have realized that sometimes it is good thing. It makes you realize how lucky you have been prior to the pain and it makes you take the time to reassess what is important to you in life. It slows you down, you have no choice in this matter!

I am attending a Pain Management Clinic right now and it really helps you put a lot of things in perspective. Details of this adventure in wellness will follow in future blogs.

The main thing I wanted to say today to fellow “fibites”, is that you are not alone in your pain, there are many ways to ease your pain and you have to understand that your life and the people in it have to be aware of it for you to enjoy life living with this chronic disease.

My journey of discovery is a long one and I hope you will tune into this site and maybe together we can help each other feel better.

Note: “fibites” I have made up this word for future use, as it really sucks spelling out “Fibromyalgia Sufferers” and I will be using the term “fibro” as a short form for Fibromyalgia. Maybe down the road, the words will end up in the dictionary!!!
